A well-kept property
is its own kind
of quiet

Seasonal property maintenance, aesthetic tree pruning, and thoughtful landscape installation for coastal properties that deserve full-time attention. We work with a small number of clients. The work shows.

NATIVE PACIFIC LANDSCAPE
Our Philosophy

The cut that is not made
is often the most
important cut

Japanese masters speak of ma — the negative space that gives form its meaning. A tree pruned with this understanding is not diminished by what is removed. It is clarified. We bring that same attention to every property we maintain. A well-kept landscape looks effortless. That is the point.

Aesthetic Tree
Pruning

This is not arboriculture. It is closer to a conversation — one that unfolds across seasons and years. We study each tree the way a calligrapher studies a character before setting brush to paper. Then we remove only what obscures. The trees we care for are not shaped. They are revealed.

Olive & Citrus · Fig & Stone Fruit · Specimen & Heritage Trees

Installation &
Irrigation

Design and installation of drought-adaptive landscapes with smart irrigation built in from the start. We take on new installation projects selectively — for clients who want the property cared for long after the plants go in.

Native Planting · Drip Systems · Smart Controllers

How It Works

Study. Consider.
Return.

01

Observation

We visit your property and do nothing but look. We study the land, the trees, what has been tended and what has been missed. We ask more questions than we answer. Then we go away and contemplate.

02

Consideration

A written scope of work, clearly priced. We explain what we see and what we propose to do — and what we propose to leave alone. The second list is usually longer.

03

The Work

We work slowly and with intention — whether pruning a specimen tree, installing a new landscape, or maintaining one that already exists. We leave every property better than we found it.

04

Return

We come back. A well-kept property is not a single project — it is an ongoing relationship. We return each season and build on what came before. The work compounds over time.

The Person Behind the Work

James Vukosav

James has spent nearly 20 years in the company of coastal properties — studying the way a neglected garden finds its way back, how a well-placed cut transforms a canopy, what patience does to a landscape over a decade of seasonal care.

His practice is rooted in the Japanese tradition of careful observation — the belief that mastery is not measured by how much you do, but by how well you understand what a property needs. He founded Native Pacific Landscape for clients who sense the difference between a property that is maintained and one that is genuinely cared for.

He takes on a small number of maintenance clients each year. Those relationships tend to last a long time.
